Le copolymère butadiène-acrylonitrile hydrogéné (HNBR) est un élastomère synthétique de spécialité très utilisé dans des secteurs de pointe tels que l’aéronautique, l’automobile et l’off-shore en tant que joint d’étanchéité et de durites. Malgré son importante utilisation, sa durabilité n’a fait l’objet que de très peu d’études. C’est pourquoi l’objectif de cette thèse était d’élucider les mécanismes et de modéliser la cinétique de son vieillissement thermique dans l’air et en immersion dans une huile modèle (IRM 903). Une approche à la fois multi-échelle et multi-techniques a débouché sur l’élaboration d’un schéma mécanistique général d’oxydation du HNBR, duquel a été dérivé un modèle cinétique permettant de simuler l’évolution de ses structures moléculaire et macromoléculaire en lien avec son comportement mécanique.<\/p>\n
